This site contains family information on my Father's family (HOWARD WALTER BROWN b. 1923).
Our family can only be traced back as far as 1755 to Yorkshire England as it is believed that we are from the LAMONT CLAN where after the Battle of Culloden they settled in Yorkshire, England, UK. Several clan members changed their names to BROWN, BLACK and WHITE.
My Great Grandfather GEORGE EDWARD BROWN b. 1857 remained in England while his father RICHARD BROWN b.1827, (m. ANN ELIZABETH BRADLEY),a widower, left for North America and Texas with George's eight siblings (see family data base). Richard married ARLETTA BACHELOR in Belleville, KS,USA.
George Edward married LOUISA HORNER and with his family including my grandfather, HORNER BROWN and siblings, came to Canada in the spring of 1903 , sailing on the S.S. Manitoba, as one of the BARR COLONISTS.
The BARR COLONISTS walked from Saskatoon Saskatchewan to Lloydminster suffering many hardships along the way.Great
Grandfather George homesteaded at Blackfoot, Alberta.
I hope to include more information about the BARR COLONISTS in the near future.
In the meantime I am trying to connect our American Cousins to our tree.
THE BROWN FAMILY is a branch of
THE MCCRIMMON FAMILY.
